About the Cottage
Welcome to the Bancroft Lakehouse Lookout, a charming getaway located on a beautiful quiet lake. It is a year-round cottage surrounded by forest and located on a pristine lake.
The cottage features 3 bedrooms that all furnished with queen size beds, premium mattresses, and a closet for storage. The open concept living/dining/kitchen is ideal for socializing and offers plenty of space to get comfy. Cozy up on the plush sectional with a book or pick out a board game from our collection. Our beautiful dining table has room for everyone and will be the perfect spot to enjoy a meal with family, friends and loved ones. The kitchen has all the essentials you need to enjoy your stay. The bathroom has a walk-in shower and full-sized laundry. The house is equipped with smart home essentials including a nest thermostat, google home and smart TV. In the summer, you can cool off with the central air conditioning, and in the winter, you will be kept warm by the furnace. Whatever the season, the cottage is comfortable and welcoming.
Step out the door and find yourself surrounded by nature. The wrap around deck has a conversational set, dining table and propane BBQ. Take in the great outdoors while enjoying a morning coffee or preparing a summer meal. Step down our stone staircase and enjoy the private sandy beach and firepit.
Our lake is roughly 30 acres. The water is spring fed, and surrounded by towering white pine trees. The lake heats up quickly in the spring and is perfect for swimming, canoeing and fishing (it is stocked with bass). We have a canoe and various inflatables to enjoy. The sandy beach allows you to walk out into the water and enjoy this serene lake. There are no motorized vehicles allowed on the lake, which provides safety, clean water and peaceful surroundings. Sit on the beach and enjoy a beautiful sunset, they are truly stunning here! In the winter, the lake freezes and is yours to explore. The local snowmobile trail can be conveniently accessed directly via our private road.
We are located roughly 7 minutes from the town of Bancroft, where you can pick up all the essentials you will need for your stay at the two grocery stores, multiple pharmacies, LCBO, and hardware stores. The town has a growing main street that features shopping, cafes, restaurants, our own brewery, a local theatre, and more. There are always events going on and things to discover in Bancroft.
Our surrounding area is filled with nature and is famous for its rich mineral reserves. You can visit the local gem shops and local museum to discover more information. In the heart of Bancroft explore the Eagle’s Nest, which features a lookout over the area and many easy to moderate hiking trails. Venture a little farther to visit Silent Lake, an Ontario Provincial Park, that has beautiful trails for beginners and experienced hikers.
Hastings County is vibrant year-round. In the summer, you can stop by the farmers market on Saturdays or check out one of the many festivals in the area like the Bancroft Gemboree, Canada’s Largest Gem and Mineral Show. In the fall, the area becomes beautiful as the leaves turn shades of vibrant reds, oranges and golden yellows. Bancroft is located in the Ontario snowbelt, which makes it a popular winter destination where you can explore snowshoeing, cross country skiing and the snow mobile trails.
The area is rich with wildlife. You might spot baby ducks on the beach, heron flying over the lake, loons on a sunset swim, frolicking deer, and a wide range of birds that pass through the area. We have tried to preserve the natural beauty of the area, and hope that you enjoy the Lakehouse Lookout as much as we do.
